21st Annual Michael A. Carroll ArtReach Exhibition

Come support young artists and their artistic accomplishments. Complimentary entertainment and food provided. Artwork by ArtReach students will be on display April 12-June 2, 2013.

ArtReach is a year-round program offered by the Indianapolis Art Center’s Outreach department. The ArtReach program provides art instruction by local artists to youth ages 5-18 at vaarious community centers, schools and churches throughout Indianapolis during after-school hours.

Lee Littlefield: Beyond the Bayou

Littlefield’s sculpture is influenced by Texas and Louisiana bayous. His interest in the relationship between the natural world of bayous and the natural materials harvested from the bayous help shape and form the vegetal, floweresque, insect-like imagery of his sculptures. Littlefield’s outdoor sculptures are tall, twisted, curvy, have heads that are on the wild side and are brightly colored to attract viewers to them. The indoor sculptures, especially his smaller aquatic creatures, invite a more intimate examination of each work. Their surreal color schemes attract, but spikes and barbs prohibit touch. The Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship Program

Launched in 1999 by the Arts Council of Indianapolis, the Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship program allows artists and arts administrators the opportunity to reinvigorate their worrk by renewing and refreshing their creativity. Recipients are awarded a $10,000 fellowship that they may use toward activities they believe will refresh their creativity and recharge their work.

The Arts Coucil convenes a national panel of arts professionals to adjudicate the applications and select the fellowship recipients. Since its inception, the Arts Council has awarded more than $2.6 million in grants to 330 fellows. Grants are awarded on a biennial basis and funded through a grant from Lilly Endowment Inc.

Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship Retrospective Events

Friday, April 12, 2013 5:30-8 pm
Opening reception with brief remarks at 6 pm, including a special announcement of the newest group of Creative Renewal Arts Fellows.

Wednesday, April 24, 2013 6-8 pm
A special evening of performances by select Creative Renewal Arts Fellows including poetry, music and theatrical performances in the Ruth Lilly Library.
